As a kid your voice was your best friend and your greatest joy.
Carefree and wild, you’d let your voice sing, sound and play without worrying what others thought.
But as you grew up things changed.
In order to keep singing you had to control your inimitable voice to fit into choir or musical theater.
Suddenly your once feral voice had to be pretty, perfect and palatable for other people.
Your love of singing got all tangled up in other people’s judgement of your voice.
And along the way the pleasure, the freedom, the aliveness of singing got diminished.
Or maybe you even stopped singing all together.
Which is why in this song circle…
We’re throwing out pleasing, setting fire to palatable, and letting our inner perfectionist take a nap. (They’re tired, let them resssst.)

Voice doula, singing shadow worker, silly goose, song oracle, channel for the primordial Mother and radical permission giver devoted to our collective liberation.
Hi love!
I was a professional performer/singer with over a decade of vocal training when I fell out of love with singing. I realized my voice had become a commodity used to please and impress other people. Boooooo!!!
I hungered for vocal work that honored my voice’s innate connection to my soul. I longed to feel the joy, delight and aliveness I once felt as a kid singing The Little Mermaid in the bathtub without worrying what others thought.
I found the voice work of Roy Hart and Alfred Wolfsohn who taught that “the voice is the muscle of the soul.”
It sparked my spiritual awakening and launched a 14+ year journey of unlearning all the vocal technique that trained me to be pleasing and palatable and riddled with self-consciousness.
Breaking down all the boxes my voice was put in so that I could sing feral, unruly and with no apologies again.
There’s a chrysalis inside your throat.
A living ally here to help you through the insanely intense experience of being a deep feeling human.
